Bill of Rights Institute Student Fellowship
Applications are now open for the 2023-24 Bill of Rights Institute's elite Student Fellowship program! This student program, is a six-month educational program that helps high school students develop as leaders and develop skills in building civil society.
What is the Student Fellowship?
The Bill of Rights Institute's Student Fellowship program is a leadership development program. Fellows participate in robust programming during the school year and participate in a culminating week of programming in and around Philadelphia, PA and Washington, DC.
Applications are due December 1, 2023.
Why Should Students Participate in the Bill of Rights Institute Student Fellowship?
To further their learning on civic leadership and participation!
Through this program, students will explore the following questions:
- What is civil society and why is it important in America
- How can we have an influence in our communities?
- What is the role of government in civil society? What is the role of charity in civil society?
- What is the role of the entrepreneur in civil society?
- How do I cultivate entrepreneurial creativity?
- What is good civic leadership?
What are the components of the Fellowship?
- The Fellowship will meet twice a month for 90 min sessions at a time determined by participants. Each session will have a short reading, discussion, and writing assignment.
- Participants will also design and lead public virtual events
- The Fellowship concludes with a week-long capstone experience. For the 2023-24 year, the capstone will take place in Philadelphia, PA, with one day in Washington DC to meet on Capitol Hill.
Who is eligible for the Fellowship?
- The fellowship is open to 15-18 year old's who are currently Juniors or Seniors (or equivalent)
- 20 fellows will be selected for the 2023-24 program
- Eligible returning fellows will be given priority admission
Applications must be received by December 1, 2023.
