Help the next generation prepare for civic life
Your gift to the Bill of Rights Institute helps students understand their rights, think for themselves, and practice the responsibilities of self-government.
Support free history and civics resources, professional development for teachers, and opportunities for students to put their learning into action.
What Your Gift Makes Possible
Put Trusted Resources In Teachers’ Hands
Help provide classroom-ready lessons, primary sources, videos, and activities that invite students to investigate America’s history and understand its founding principles.
Help Teachers Grow Their Knowledge And Practice
Support professional development where educators deepen their knowledge, exchange ideas, and discover practical approaches to teaching history and civics.
Give Students Opportunities To Practice Citizenship
Support debates, fellowships, and community projects that help young people consider different perspectives, take responsibility, and contribute to their communities.
Grounded in Principles. Built for Independent Thinking.
BRI teaches America’s founding principles alongside the full story of our country, including when we’ve lived up to those ideals and when we’ve fallen short. Our nonpartisan resources help students examine evidence, consider different viewpoints, and reach their own conclusions.

Other Ways to Give
Choose the giving method that works for you. The instructions below can help you, your account provider, or your advisor arrange a gift.
Give Stock
Donating publicly traded stock directly to BRI may offer tax benefits. For appreciated shares held for more than a year, these may include avoiding capital gains tax on the increase in value and, if you itemize, a charitable deduction based on fair market value. Applicable rules and limits apply.
Give Through Your Donor-Advised Fund
Put charitable funds you’ve already set aside to work for teachers and students.
Choose your grant amount and submit your recommendation.
If you’d like us to thank you directly, ask your provider to include your name and contact information with the grant. Use the mailing address under BRI’s giving details if your provider requests it.
A grant from your donor-advised fund doesn’t generate an additional charitable deduction.
Give From Your IRA
If you’re 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to BRI.
When IRS requirements are met, a QCD can be excluded from your federal taxable income and count toward your required minimum distribution, if you have one.
Tell our giving team your gift is on the way so we can identify and acknowledge it.
Annual limits and other eligibility rules apply. A QCD excluded from income cannot also be claimed as a charitable deduction.
Give By Mail
Make your check payable to Bill of Rights Institute and mail it to the address in BRI’s giving details below.
Please include your name and mailing address so we can acknowledge your gift.
Check For an Employer Match
If your employer offers a matching gift program, ask whether your gift to BRI qualifies. Check the program’s deadlines and submission instructions, and contact our giving team if you need information for your request.
