Examine the impact of entrepreneurship on civil society. Help students weigh the pros and cons of the different solution options (government, charity, or entrepreneurship) and select the option that best suits their project challenge.

Lesson Five – Entrepreneurship and Community

Entrepreneurship is the beating heart of America’s free market economy. Businesses provide the products that help us meet our daily needs, but entrepreneurs also play an important role in solving social problems.  

In this lesson, you’ll learn how entrepreneurial endeavors can increase economic opportunity and innovate solutions to complicated problems. Then, you can build your own project plan using entrepreneurial methods. Is a new product or service the key to your project? 

Objectives:

  • Define entrepreneurship and explain its role in solving social problems.
  • Explain and compare how entrepreneurs have impacted civil society.
  • Identify entrepreneurial solutions to your MIC problem and entrepreneurs already involved in solutions.
  • Create a business plan for your project using the Lean Canvas technique.
